Welcome to MinNote (the "App"). The App is developed and maintained independently by the developer of MinNote ("we", "us", or "our"). This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use the App.
Please read this Privacy Policy carefully before using the App. By using the App, you agree to this Privacy Policy in full.
1. Important: Your Notes Stay Under Your Control
MinNote is local-first. By default, notes, voice recordings, and transcriptions are stored only on your device. We do not operate an account system or a backend that receives your note content.
2. Information We Do Not Collect
MinNote does not collect, upload, store, or share:
- Your note titles, text, voice recordings, or transcriptions (except as described in Section 3 if you turn on iCloud sync)
- Your location
- Usage analytics or advertising identifiers
- Name, government ID, phone number, or other personal identification information
The App has no ads and no third-party analytics or advertising SDKs.
3. How the App Works
- Local storage (default): Text notes, voice files, and transcriptions are saved in the App's sandbox on your device. We cannot read this data.
- Optional iCloud sync: If you turn on iCloud sync in the App, notes (including voice files when applicable) are synced through Apple's CloudKit private database to your iCloud account, so they can appear on your other devices signed in with the same Apple ID. Transmission and storage are provided by Apple Inc. and governed by Apple's privacy policy. We cannot access the contents of your iCloud account.
- App lock: If you set a passcode, it is stored in the iOS Keychain on your device. Face ID / Touch ID, if enabled, is processed by iOS on your device and is never sent to us.
4. Voice Notes and Transcription
Microphone access is used only to record voice notes that you start. Recordings stay on your device unless you enable iCloud sync.
Speech-to-text is intended to run on your device:
- On supported system versions, transcription uses Apple's on-device speech APIs. A language model may be downloaded to your device by iOS.
- On older system versions, the App requests on-device recognition when the system supports it. If on-device recognition is unavailable, Apple's speech recognition service may process the audio according to Apple's privacy policy. We do not receive that audio or the transcription from Apple.
5. Permissions
- Microphone: required to record voice notes. Used only when you start a recording.
- Speech Recognition: required to transcribe voice notes, as described above.
- Face ID: optional, used only to unlock the App if you enable it.
You can revoke these permissions in iOS Settings at any time. Related features will then be unavailable.
6. Third-Party Services
MinNote does not integrate third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs. Optional iCloud sync and system speech APIs are Apple services. We do not send your notes to any service that we operate.
7. Children's Privacy
The App is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has used the App in a way that concerns you, please contact us.
8. Your Rights
- Control: you can create, edit, or delete notes in the App at any time.
- Local data: uninstalling the App, or using "Clear All Data" in Settings, removes locally stored notes and recordings. If iCloud sync is on, you should also manage copies stored in your iCloud account.
- Withdraw consent: stop using the App and uninstall it at any time.
9. Policy Updates
We may update this Policy when required by law or when features change. The updated version will be posted on this page and, where appropriate, noted in the App. Continued use after a material update constitutes acceptance of the revised Policy.
